Files and Email
Share files with Viktor, get files back, and use Viktor's own email address.
You can give Viktor files in Slack and Microsoft Teams, and he sends files back to you. Viktor also has his own email address: he can send email from it, and receive email from senders you allow.
Send files to Viktor
In Slack
- Attach the file to your message to Viktor (in his DM, or in a message that @mentions him).
- Send the message.
Images (.jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .webp) are shown to Viktor automatically, up to 10 per turn. If there are more, the most recent ones are kept. Viktor downloads other files when he needs them.
Viktor reads documents by converting them to text. Supported formats: .pdf, .docx, .xlsx, .xls, .pptx, .ppt, .rtf, .odt, .ods and .odp.
In Microsoft Teams
Attach the file to your message to Viktor. PDF, Office and OpenDocument files, plus .rtf, .txt, .md and .ics, are converted to text for Viktor. Long documents are cut at 50,000 characters and end with the note "[Document truncated for context window.]". Images are passed to Viktor as images.
In Viktor app chat
See the Viktor web app for attaching files in app chat.
Get files from Viktor
- Slack: Viktor uploads the file and shares a link to it in his message.
- Microsoft Teams: Viktor posts a card with the file name, "Viktor generated this file for you." and a Download button. The button opens your browser, where you sign in to Viktor once. Only signed-in members of your Viktor workspace can download the file.
Viktor's email address
Each workspace gets its own Viktor address at @viktor-mail.com. To find it:
- Open Settings → Emails (open it).
- Under Viktor's inbox, click Copy to copy the address.
- To try it, click Send a test email. It opens a new email to Viktor's address in your mail app. Your address must be on Allowed senders (below) for it to arrive.
The address needs Slack or Microsoft Teams connected. Without either, the page shows "Connect Slack or Microsoft Teams to enable email".
Ask Viktor to send an email
Ask in chat, for example "Email the summary to jane@example.com and CC me."
- Viktor sends from his own address, not yours. To send from your own mailbox, connect your email account as an integration and ask him to use it. See connect your tools.
- He can add CC and BCC recipients, attach files, and reply to emails he received.
- He keeps a copy of every email he sends.
- He is instructed to send only email that was asked for: what you requested, a reply to an email he received, or a send set up in an automation. He does not send cold outreach or bulk mail, and he asks when it is unclear whether you want an email sent.
- If a send is refused or fails, Viktor tells you the reason.
Choose who can email Viktor
Viktor's inbox only accepts email from allowed senders. Mail from anyone else is not delivered. In most cases the sender gets an automatic reply saying "This Viktor inbox only accepts emails from approved senders." If the list is empty, nobody can email Viktor. The settings page then shows "Nobody can email Viktor yet".
When a workspace connects Slack, the email address of the person who connected it is added to the list automatically, if the list was empty.
Add or remove senders in settings (admins)
- Open Settings → Emails (open it) and find Allowed senders.
- Type a full email address, or a domain such as
acme.com. - Click Allow. A domain allows everyone at that domain; an address allows only that one address.
- To remove a sender, click the remove button next to it.
Add or remove senders in chat
You can also ask Viktor, for example "Allow email from acme.com." Adding a sender needs approval: Viktor posts an approval card, and the sender is added after it is approved (see approvals). Removing a sender does not need approval.
Limits by plan and permission
- Plan: no plan-specific limits were found for files or email. Work Viktor does with them uses credits like any other run.
- Admins: only admins can change Allowed senders in Settings → Emails.
- Members: can ask Viktor in chat to add a sender (with approval) or remove one.
Common problems
Someone's email to Viktor bounced. Their address or domain is not on Allowed senders. Add it in Settings → Emails or ask Viktor to add it.
Nobody can email Viktor. The allowed senders list is empty. Add at least one address or domain.
The Teams Download button asks me to sign in. Downloads need a Viktor sign-in in your browser. Sign in once with the account that belongs to your workspace.
Viktor only read part of my document in Teams. Documents longer than 50,000 characters are truncated. Split the document, or ask about a specific section.
Viktor sent the email from his address, not mine. That is expected. Connect your mail account as an integration and ask him to send from it.
