Chat commands: !fast, !deep, !stop, and !mute
Add !fast or !deep to a message to change how Viktor answers that one reply, type !stop to cancel a run, or !mute to keep him out of a Slack thread.
Chat commands are short words you type in a message to Viktor. They take effect right away, with no settings page. Type a command as a separate word anywhere in your message, with the exclamation mark and no space after it.
| Command | What it does | Where it works |
|---|---|---|
!fast | Runs this one reply on the workspace's fast model | Slack and Microsoft Teams |
!deep | Runs this one reply on the workspace's deep model | Slack and Microsoft Teams |
!stop | Stops what Viktor is doing in the thread | Slack |
!mute or 🏁 | Mutes Viktor in a channel thread until someone @mentions him | Slack channel threads |
| Stop button | Stops a run in app chat | Viktor web app |
!fast and !deep: trade speed against depth
- Add
!fastor!deepto your message, for example: "!fast what's on my calendar today?" - In Slack, a ⚡ (
!fast) or 🧠 (!deep) reaction shows on your message until the reply arrives. - The reply ends with a short footer such as "⚡ Fast reply" or "🧠 Deep reply" and the model name.
Both apply to one reply only. Your next message goes back to the normal model, and your workspace's default model doesn't change. If a message contains both !fast and !deep, neither applies.
- `!fast`: quick lookups, short rewrites, simple questions.
- `!deep`: hard problems and multi-step reasoning, where you'd rather wait for a more considered answer.
Set the models behind the commands (admins)
Workspace admins pick the models in Settings > Model, under Model overrides. Each command can also be set to Use default model. If !deep is set to Use default model, the command does nothing. Members can see this page but only admins can change it.
A note on credits
Deep replies run on a more capable model, so they usually use more credits than a standard reply. Use !deep when the question deserves it. See How credits work.
!stop: cancel a run
If Viktor is working on something you no longer want, send a message to him that contains !stop: in his DM, in a group DM, with an @mention, or in a thread he started.
- Viktor adds a 🛑 reaction to your message.
- If a run was active, it ends and Viktor confirms that he stopped.
!stop also drops replies waiting in the queue and clears a pending !fast or !deep. It never reaches the AI model, so it works even if Viktor is stuck in a loop. It doesn't change your settings or pause your scheduled tasks. !stop inside a code span or a block quote is treated as text.
In app chat, the send button turns into a stop button while Viktor is working. !stop doesn't work in Microsoft Teams yet.
!mute: keep Viktor out of a Slack thread
In a Slack channel thread Viktor is part of, send a message containing !mute, or react with 🏁 to one of his messages. Viktor adds a 🔇 reaction and stops replying in that thread, while still reading it for context. To unmute, @mention him in the thread. Mute doesn't apply to DMs or Microsoft Teams.
Common questions
Do !fast and !deep carry over to my next message? No. Both apply to exactly one reply.
Does !stop lose my conversation? No. It only cancels the run in progress. The thread and everything already posted stay put.
!stop did nothing. Check that the message is directed at Viktor (DM, @mention, or a thread he started) and that !stop isn't inside a code span or a quote.
Nothing seems different when I use !deep. Your workspace's deep model is probably set to Use default model. Ask an admin to pick one in Settings > Model, or contact us at support@viktor.com.
