Use Viktor in Zoom Team Chat
Add the Viktor app to Zoom, talk to it in DMs and channels, and see what data Viktor receives and how to remove it.
Viktor is available as a Zoom Team Chat app. You can message it directly, start a task with /viktor, or mention it in a channel, and it replies in the same conversation.
What Viktor does in Zoom Team Chat
- Direct messages: send Viktor a DM and it works on your request and replies there.
- `/viktor` command: type
/viktorfollowed by your request in any chat to start a task. - Channels: in a channel where Viktor is turned on, mention Viktor by name and it answers in the thread.
- Scheduled tasks: ask Viktor to post a report to a channel or to your DMs on a schedule.
- Approvals: before a sensitive action, Viktor asks first, with Approve and Reject buttons in the chat.
- Only what is addressed to it: Viktor acts only on DMs to Viktor,
/viktorcommands, mentions in channels where it is turned on, and replies in threads it is part of.
Add Viktor to Zoom (admins)
You need to be an admin of your Viktor workspace.
If your Viktor workspace doesn't already run on Slack or Microsoft Teams:
- In Viktor, go to Settings › Workspace › Where Viktor works, find Zoom and click Connect.
- Sign in to Zoom and approve the app's permissions for your Zoom account.
If your Viktor workspace runs on Slack or Microsoft Teams, or you prefer to start from Zoom: in the Zoom App Marketplace, find Viktor, click Add, and sign in to Viktor as a workspace admin when asked.
After Zoom is connected, people in your Zoom account can use Viktor. Viktor recognizes each person by the verified email address on their Zoom profile and links them to their Viktor account automatically when the emails match. Only active, verified members of your own Zoom account can use Viktor.
Turn Viktor on in a channel
Channels are off until they are turned on, so Viktor never answers in a channel nobody chose.
- If you added the Viktor app to the channel in Zoom, it is turned on automatically, and removing the app turns it off.
- Otherwise, a Viktor workspace admin types
/viktor enablein the channel. To turn it off again, type/viktor disable.
/viktor works in any chat, whether the channel is turned on or not, because it is addressed to Viktor directly.
Using Viktor
- Desktop app: use the Zoom desktop app for DMs to Viktor and for
/viktor. Zoom delivers these from the desktop app. - Mentions: write Viktor's name in your message, for example "Viktor, summarize this thread".
- Channel history and files: Viktor reads earlier messages or files in a channel only when a member asks, and only from channels that member belongs to.
What Viktor can't do in Zoom
- Mentions are by name. Viktor recognizes its name in the message text, not Zoom's mention metadata.
- Channels on Zoom Pro accounts: Zoom doesn't let apps be added to channels on Pro accounts. Use
/viktor enableinstead. - Mobile and web: DMs and
/viktormay not reach Viktor from the Zoom mobile or web apps. Use the desktop app. - No meetings: Viktor works in Team Chat. It does not join Zoom meetings or read meeting recordings or transcripts.
What data Viktor receives
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Messages posted in your account's Team Chat channels | As they are posted | So Viktor can tell when it is mentioned. Messages not addressed to Viktor are discarded on arrival, without being stored or logged |
DMs to Viktor, /viktor commands, mentions in channels where Viktor is on, replies in threads Viktor is part of; with the sender's Zoom user ID and name, and the channel and message IDs | Each time you message Viktor | To carry out your request and reply |
| The sender's Zoom profile: email, account and whether the user is active | When someone messages Viktor | To check they belong to your Zoom account and link them to their Viktor account |
| Earlier channel messages and files | Only when a member asks, from channels that member belongs to | To answer that request |
| Channel added and removed events for the Viktor app | When the app is added to or removed from a channel | To turn Viktor on or off in that channel |

Remove Viktor
- Stop Viktor in a channel: type
/viktor disable(Viktor workspace admin), or remove the Viktor app from the channel. - Remove the app from Zoom: in the Zoom App Marketplace, go to Manage › Added Apps and click Remove next to Viktor.
- Disconnect from Viktor: a Viktor workspace admin opens the Integrations screen, finds Zoom Team Chat and clicks Disconnect. If Zoom is your workspace's main chat app, the admin goes to Settings › Workspace › Where Viktor works › Zoom and clicks Disconnect instead.
What happens to your data after removal
- Zoom stops sending messages to Viktor as soon as the app is removed.
- Zoom doesn't tell apps right away when they are removed. Viktor deletes the Zoom access tokens for your account and stops scheduled tasks that post to Zoom the next time it tries to reach Zoom or a Viktor admin opens Settings. Disconnecting from Viktor does this at once.
- Messages that were not addressed to Viktor were never stored, so there is nothing to delete for them.
- Removing the app does not by itself delete what Viktor already stored from your conversations with it. Email support@viktor.com and we delete it as described in our Privacy Policy.
If you reconnect later, your channel settings and existing work are kept unless you asked us to delete them.
Troubleshooting
- Viktor doesn't answer in a channel: check that Viktor is turned on there (
/viktor enable) and that your message includes Viktor's name. Or use/viktor. - Viktor doesn't answer a DM or `/viktor`: send it from the Zoom desktop app.
- Viktor asks you to get linked: your Zoom email must match the email of your Viktor account. Ask your Viktor workspace admin to invite that email.
- Connect says you need to be an admin: ask an admin of your Viktor workspace to click Connect.
- `/viktor enable` says you're not allowed: only Viktor workspace admins can turn channels on or off.
- Viktor stopped answering everywhere: the app may have been removed in Zoom. An admin reconnects it from Where Viktor works. See Reconnect an integration.
FAQ
