The **Permissions** page is where admins decide who can use Viktor and what teammates without admin can do. It lives at [app.viktor.com/settings/permissions](https://app.viktor.com/settings/permissions).

Only admins can open it. Members who follow the link see **Only admins can change Viktor permissions** and "Ask a team admin to make changes here."

What you see depends on your chat platform:

- **Slack workspaces** get two tabs: **Workspace** and **Slack Connect channels**.
- **Microsoft Teams workspaces**, and workspaces with no chat platform connected yet, only get the **What teammates can do** card.

## What teammates can do

This card sets what teammates without admin can do with integrations. It has two switches:

- **Connect new integrations**: "When off, only admins can connect integrations."
- **Edit other people's integrations**: "When off, teammates can only edit integrations they set up themselves."

## Who can use Viktor (Slack)

Pick one of two modes:

- **Everyone except blocked**: everyone in the Slack workspace can use Viktor. Add people under **Blocked people** to keep them out.
- **Only allowed people**: only the people you add under **Allowed people** can use Viktor. Pick at least one.

To change it:

1. Open [Permissions](https://app.viktor.com/settings/permissions) on the **Workspace** tab.
2. Under **Who can use Viktor**, choose a mode.
3. Add people with **Allow** or **Block**.
4. Select **Save access control**.

Admins are never blocked by this setting. That means an admin will not see the message a blocked person gets. When someone who is not allowed mentions Viktor, he replies with a message only they can see:

- Not on the allow list: "Viktor is limited to specific people on this workspace, and you're not on the list yet. Ask a Viktor admin to add you under Settings → Permissions → Who can use Viktor."
- Blocked: "A Viktor admin has blocked you from using Viktor on this workspace. Ask a Viktor admin to unblock you under Settings → Permissions → Who can use Viktor."

Having a Viktor account does not get someone past **Only allowed people**. New teammates must be added to the list too.

## Slack guests

**Allow Slack guest users** lets guests in your Slack workspace mention Viktor. When it is on, you can narrow it:

- **Which guests**: **All guests** or **Specific guests**.
- **In which channels**: **All channels** or **Specific channels**. With specific channels, guests are denied everywhere else, including DMs.

Select **Save guest access** after changing the narrower options.

Guests who are not allowed see one of these:

- "Slack guest users don't have access to Viktor on this workspace."
- "Guest access to Viktor is limited to specific people on this workspace. Contact your team admin for access."
- "Guests can't use Viktor in this channel. Ask your team admin to allow guest access here."

## Slack Connect

**Use Viktor in Slack Connect channels** lets your team mention Viktor in channels shared with other Slack workspaces. Turning it off asks you to confirm, because Viktor stops responding in every Slack Connect channel until you turn it back on.

The **Slack Connect channels** tab sets rules per channel:

- **Who can prompt Viktor**: **Members only** (only people from your workspace can mention Viktor) or **+ External**. Allowing external people asks you to confirm.
- **Replies in threads**: **Preview first** shows Viktor's answer privately to whoever asked, with Post and Reject buttons, before the channel sees it. **Auto-send** posts it straight into the thread.
- **New posts by Viktor** (scheduled task reports, or posts requested from another channel): **Preview first** or **Auto-send**.

Select channels and use **Edit selected** to change several at once, then save your changes. A channel marked "Add Viktor to this channel in Slack first." needs Viktor invited in Slack before its rules apply.

## Who Viktor can DM (Slack)

- **Anyone in the workspace**: Viktor can start a DM with anyone.
- **Only specific people**: Viktor can only DM the people you add, including in group DMs. Viktor admins can always be DMed.

People can always DM Viktor themselves. Select **Save DM access** to apply.

## Limits by plan and permission

- All settings on this page are admin only.
- **Who can use Viktor**, guests, Slack Connect and DM settings apply to Slack workspaces only.
- Teams workspaces and workspaces without a chat platform only have **What teammates can do**.

## Common problems

- **A teammate says Viktor ignores them**: check **Who can use Viktor**. In **Only allowed people** mode, every non-admin not on the list is denied, even with a Viktor account.
- **Viktor stopped answering in a shared channel**: check that **Use Viktor in Slack Connect channels** is on, and the channel's **Who can prompt Viktor** rule.
- **Viktor's replies in a Slack Connect channel don't show up for everyone**: the channel is set to **Preview first**. The person who asked has to post the reply.
- **"Couldn't save. Try again."**: the change did not save. Reload the page and try again.
